Creative Crowbar Reaction Thesaurus: ENTRY ONE

My observations of emotional reactions to common occurrences for you Creative Crowbar.

Look out into your world and you will see people reacting to everything and multiple ways. It could be the same issue, but each person will have a different reaction. The following are some issues and the reactions I have observed. Look them over, and think about how you would react. Think about how your character in your book would react.

Here is a top one that get all kinds of reaction. A person gets cut off while driving. The reaction almost always F*** YOU!….How many times do you think people want to just ram the living shit out of the car in front of them to get revenge? Probably to many to count in a day.

So that is your CREATIVE CROWBAR from the reaction thesaurus — What could your cartoon, character or joke do with all that emotion that occurs from one car cutting off another?

Inception: The Shooting Script

What is the NUMBER ONE movie of all time?

What Creative Crowbar can we pull from the #1 movie of all time?

Story ideas are all around us, but some of them work really well and other not so well. The great ones can stand the test of time, which are the ones we here about over and over again, They may come with different spins, but the theme or central idea is intact. We to know that central idea. We can take idea and add our creativeness to it buy putting a new shell on it, or even working up a completely new idea inspired by it.

After searching around, I found Shawshank Redemption tops out at #1 on the IMDB top 250 list. It would be at the top of my list as well. Maybe it would be in the #2 spot. I am still thinking about number one for me.  They have the Godfather at #2, but I wold rank a lot of other movies in front of it. In any case all 250 are generally great movies. I have not looked, but I would imagine, there is a limited number of central ideas on that list. They are just presented to us by great artist.

If we take Shawshank Redemption and break it down to its root idea or theme it would be an allegory for maintaining one’s of self-worth through integrity when placed in a bad situation. This root idea has powerful emotional potential. You can keep throwing things at the main characters to try an beat them down. You can get extreme to the point of comedy or keep it harsh enough to bring tears. Over time the character may get broken down to the exhaustion, but they will only be growing.

HERE IS YOUR CREATIVE CROWBAR (theme or root idea) – Build your story around the idea of “Maintaining self worth through integrity. Set them up, beat them down. Throw away the key, send them to the other side of the universe with no way fuel to get back, Put them into a position of decision making power, but have them family help hostage…Beat them to a pulp, TEST every fiber of their SELF WORTH, then reward them for making it to the other side.

If you don’t like that one, here is a list of the TOP TEN MOVIES.. By THE-TOP-TENS See if you agree, and see if you can get another CROWBAR to pry a great joke, cartoon, of story out of that head of yours.

Now, for some inspiration…what is the central idea for each of these movies? Are they new ideas or just reworked ideas. Look at each one and think about how you could created your own version.
